GETTING HERE

Macedon Ranges Further Education Centre (MRFEC) is located at 12 Hamilton Street Gisborne, at the rear of Gisborne Community Centre.

Look for our Macedon Ranges Further Education Centre A-Frame towards the entrance of Gisborne Fitness Centre. We are also neighbours to Windarring and the Gisborne Library.

VISIT BY BIKE:

We encourage and support cycling to MRFEC.

While we don’t currently have dedicated bike parking, we have a railing that runs alongside our building between us and Gisborne Fitness Centre, that bikes can be fastened to.

Alternatively, around Gisborne there are several outdoor bike racks, including out front of Gisborne IGA, Gisborne Coles, near football ovals, and out-front of the Gisborne Library. Gisborne Station also has a Parkiteer Secure Bike cage which has a capacity of 26.

To book a space head to Parkiteer’s website and enter New Gisborne’s postcode, 3438 under the ‘Locations’ tab, or visit in person. Please note that these are suggestions and the user is responsible for any and all property left in these areas – we recommend the use of bike locks.

VISIT BY CAR:

There is a small car park at the door of the centre, which is shared with our neighbours, however two of these spots are reserved for Library staff. We recommend visitors, students and staff at MRFEC park in the free, untimed parking around the football oval at Gisborne Cricket and Recreation Reserve which is accessible from Hamilton Street.

VISIT BY TRAIN OR BUS:

Gisborne Railway Station is located on Station Road in New Gisborne, 3.4km from MRFEC. This equates to an estimated walk of 46 minutes and a bike ride of 10 minutes. However, Gisborne is home to ‘Gisbus’, also known as Gisborne Transit which has two routes available to the general public. Both routes can run between Gisborne Station and Gisborne’s Town Centre.

● Route 473 has a set timetable and a set route covering the inner areas of the Gisborne township. This service operates 7 days per week, except public holidays.

● Route 474 is an on-demand route, operating 5 days per week (except public holidays) and is a "book-and-ride" service. We encourage visitors, students and staff at MRFEC to book their journey ahead of time to ensure their trip. Bookings can be made via Gisborne Transits website here.

Fares for both routes are as follows:

● Adult - $2.40 per trip

● Concession - $1.20 per trip

Please note - passengers transferring to or from a V/Line service at the Gisborne Station are not required to pay a separate bus fare.

The Aitken Street/Hamilton Street Bus Stop is located out the front of the Gisborne Community Centre, just a 73 metre walk to our door. Another stop that is easily accessible is the Gisborne Town Centre/Aitken Street bus stop, just next to Coles in Gisborne and roughly 400 metres or a six minute walk from MRFEC.

Both stops are located on good, well-lit busy streets with access to footpaths and a pedestrian crossing. Gisborne Transit services use low-floor, wheelchair-accessible airconditioned vehicles.

For current updates on services and transport options, head to the Public Transport Victoria (PTV) app or website.
